espanaaa so soonnn!

welcome to the roller coaster i like to refer to as my life! here i invite you to follow my antics and adventures in spain as i make a fool of myself in another language! this is bound to get interesting...

oh boyy, this is gonna be fabulous! i will be in spain in approximately 19 hours, 7 minutes, and 32 seconds.. but whos counting?

seriously, spain could not come at a better time! after battling through last semester classes, with a boss who told me to "push the common sense button" (direct quote, actually quite hilarious), getting buried in countless parking tickets, speeding tickets, dragging court dates and fees, and getting threatened with possibly having to face 'impersonating someone' charges, i am certainly ready for a new experience!

however, sadly, ive learned that even 3400 miles from the oh so great united states of america wont hide me from my mistakes, as just recently, i received yet another ticket sent right to my home in france (how kind of you, america) because on my last day in amherst, i decided it a brilliant idea to leave at midnight (gosh, never in my life have i procrastinated that much) when an emergency code blizzard had been announced. apparently, i had it in my head that i can overcome the powerful forces of nature. let that be a lesson learned for the future, i hope. anyway, being the experienced driver that i naturally am, i went through the fast lane toll by accident and now have to pay the consequences.. or not! of course, i appealed it. pff, who do you think i am? but yes, i am certainly relieved to know that i will not be operating a motor vehicle for quite some time- at least i can be assured i wont be accumulating more tickets.. thank goddd.

although france has been nice and relaxing, somewhat, with the family, i am also ready to escape my dads desire for me to read one of his preferred harvard articles of "managing oneself" and my moms complaints as to why, but whyyy, must i wear so many rings?! and anyways, now that our igloo is fading fast as the sun has come back, ill have no place to sleep...kidding.

one note/observation ive made about my brain recently- i am more spaced out than ever! which i guess is no real surprise but comonn. ive had no exposure to drugs in the past month, not like those would have anything to do with it... but yeaahhh, i walk to one corner of the room to pack, turn around for a half second and decide its the perfect time to paint my nails, after 7 fingers i feel the need to start typing an email. its been nonstop. i havent been able to do anythingg!! writing this first blog post has taken me so long cuz i keep getting up, looking through facebook, etc! hopefully i will start to be able to think a little more clearly in the near future, however i dont see many of my activities in spain helping me in that department.

maybe i should write some things i hope to accomplish:
1) hablar espanol
2) meet everybody! (possibly a little overambitious, we will see..)
3) play soccer.. dont laugh :)
4) visit lots of europe! (places im thinking of: many in spain, london, greece, florence, venice, portugal, morocco.. any ideas?
5) get a sweet tan
6) and above all, ENJOY MYSELF!
and in that, ill also follow carlys dads advice of SAVORING EVERY MOMENT!

so now, i will try again to gather my suitcase, thoughts, and hopes before i jet off to spain!

espannaaa, ready or nott, here i commmeee!! i am ready for adventure, new experiences, people, food, sights, laughter, music, places, anything and everything!!!

until then!

love,
sophie
